EIS - Educational Institute of Scotland

In addition to its professional role, the Scotland's largest teaching union - the Institute has through the years developed its function of seeking to improve and protect the pay and conditions of service of teachers and lecturers in Scotland at both a national and local level. In recent years in particular, the Institute has also played an important role in the campaign to protect the distinctive nature of Scottish education and the quality of education service provided in this country.

Schools in the Association offer a choice of day, full boarding, weekly boarding and flexible boarding education.

HMC - Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference

HMC represents the heads of over 240 leading independent boys and co-educational schools in the UK and an additional 70 or so international members.
Its purpose is to give members personal and professional support and an opportunity to meet together in geographical Divisions and at an Annual Conference to discuss matters of common interest.

IAPS - Independent Association of Preparatory Schools
|
IAPS is a professional association for Headmasters and Headmistresses of independent preparatory schools in the United Kingdom and Overseas. There are 130,000 pupils in over 500 schools of all types and sizes:
* Boys, girls, co-educational
* Day, boarding, weekly and flexi-boarding
* City, town, suburban and country
* Wholly independent prep schools
* Junior schools linked to senior schools
* Choir schools
* Schools offering special educational provision or facilities
* Schools with particular religious affiliations
IAPS is a founder member of the Independent Schools Council (ISC) and all IAPS schools benefit from the services of ISCis (the Independent Schools Council Information Service.)

The largest teachers' trade union in Ireland. It represents teachers at primary level in the Republic of Ireland and at primary and post-primary level in Northern Ireland.

ISC - The Independent Schools Council
|
|
The Independent Schools Council (formed in 1974 as the Independent Schools Joint Council) provides a single, unified organisation to speak and act on behalf of the seven independent schools' associations which constitute it. ISC promotes the schools' common interests at the political level by making representations to government ministers, politicians of all parties and civil servants. Its governing council includes representatives of the associations. Eighty per cent of independent sector pupils in the UK attend ISC schools.
